Kathmandu. The Flood Forecasting Section of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a flood forecast bulletin for Thursday, stating that the water level in major rivers such as Koshi, Narayani, Bagmati, Karnali, and Mahakali, as well as their tributaries, is below the warning level.
However, the bulletin warns of a medium risk of flash floods in small rivers in 35 districts, including Taplejung, Panchthar, Ilam, Tehrathum, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Bhojpur, Khotang, Udayapur, and Okhaldhunga.
The department has also predicted an increase in water levels in small rivers in Sindhuli, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Sindhupalchok, Kavrepalanchok, Makwanpur, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Dhading, Nuwakot, Rasuwa, Gorkha, Lamjung, Tanahun, Kaski, Syangja, Chitwan, Nawalparasi East, Nawalparasi West, Rupandehi, Palpa, Banke, Bardiya, and surrounding areas.
The department has urged people living in riverbank areas to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
The bulletin also predicts an increase in water levels in small rivers in the coming two days, with a medium risk of flash floods in some areas.
