Majid Ansari to Take Legal Action Against Police Brutality

Kathmandu. Engineer Majid Ansari, who was brutally beaten by the Nepal Police while helping flood victims in Kirtipur, has announced that he will take legal action against the police brutality.

Ansari, who was discharged from the hospital, issued a statement stating that he was illegally detained and subjected to physical and mental torture by the police. According to Ansari, he was beaten by 10-12 police officers in a place where the camera could not see, and he was seriously injured.

Ansari, who was taken to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for treatment, claimed that he was also subjected to injustice at the hospital, which was under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the police.

'They tried not to write the word 'police beating' in my medical history,' Ansari said, 'Plainclothes police came to the cabin and threatened to file a case of misconduct if I didn't sign the documents.'

Ansari claimed that he was kept under police surveillance for about 3-4 days and was subjected to mental pressure, and was also denied the right to receive independent treatment.

Ansari, who is currently on 'bed rest' on the advice of his doctor after being discharged from the hospital, has made it clear that he will take legal action against the planned encirclement and torture once his health improves.
