Mydagi’s Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-2 Lulang has been without electricity for 10 days. The Darakhola Second Small Hydroelectric Project’s power house equipment was damaged by a landslide, leaving around 400 households without electricity.

According to project operator Harka Bahadur Purja, the landslide damaged the power house’s LC plate, which has been sent to Butwal for repair. The project had been providing electricity to Lulang, Lamasung, Khoriya, and Mareni Tol.

Impact of the Power Outage

The power outage has caused difficulties for the locals, with the village being plunged into darkness at night. Students are facing problems with their studies, and the village office’s services have also been disrupted. The lack of electricity has also affected the charging of mobile phones and other electronic devices, impacting communication services.

Although the central transmission line reached Lulang last Jestha, the locals have not been able to use the central electrification system due to the lack of meter boxes and wiring in their homes.

The 50 kW Darakhola Second Small Hydroelectric Project has been affected by natural disasters and landslides every year, causing losses to the locals.
