Koshi River Water Flow Increases, Administration on High Alert

The administration in Sunsari has stepped up its preparedness for disaster response as the water flow in the Koshi River has increased.

Chief District Officer Vasudev Ghimire, along with security agency chiefs, conducted a site visit to the Koshi Barrage to assess the situation.

The water flow in the Koshi Barrage has reached 151,195 cubic meters per second, with 20 gates of the barrage opened.

Preparations Underway

Chief District Officer Ghimire stated that the district has a disaster response plan in place, with clear responsibilities assigned to all agencies involved in disaster management.

He added that the district administration and security agencies are prepared to respond to any potential floods, landslides, or erosion, and have made necessary arrangements for rescue, relief, and rehabilitation.

The administration has also carried out repairs to the Koshi Barrage bridge and weak riverbanks to prevent any damage from potential floods.

Chief District Officer Ghimire assured that the district administration and security agencies are on high alert and ready to respond to any situation that may arise.

The site visit was also attended by representatives from the District Police Office, Sunsari, and the National Investigation Department, Sunsari.
