Hollywood star Kevin Costner has expanded his partnership with Green Mountain Coffee Roasters as he navigates the financial fallout from his divorce and the mounting costs of his filmmaking projects.

The 71-year-old actor, director, and producer, known for Western classics such as Dances With Wolves and Open Range, has been open about his daily routine, revealing that he adds cinnamon to his coffee and does not drink it black, unlike the rugged frontier heroes he has portrayed.

Financial Pressures

Costner finalized his divorce from Christine Baumgartner in February 2024, with a judge enforcing their prenuptial agreement and awarding Baumgartner $1.5 million, as well as ordering Costner to pay $63,209 a month in child support for their three children.

A source close to the actor said that the divorce has increased the financial pressure on Costner, who has invested heavily in his Horizon film project. The source added that commercial partnerships, such as the coffee tie-in, make sense as they allow him to continue funding his projects.

A Shift in Image

Costner’s decision to promote coffee has been seen as a departure from his grand vision of himself as a filmmaker. However, the actor remains committed to creating movies on his own terms.

Speaking about his partnership with Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Costner said that the company’s approach to authenticity resonated with him. He added that shooting the campaign felt authentic and honest, values that he also looks for in his acting choices.
