The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has warned of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in various parts of the country today, urging people to exercise necessary caution.

According to meteorologist Sanjib Adhikari, the monsoon winds are currently affecting the entire country. The monsoon low-pressure line is located near the Tarai region in the west and near the plains in the east, leading to a high chance of significant rainfall over the next three days.

Today, heavy rainfall is expected in the hilly and Tarai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, with extremely heavy rainfall possible in one or two places. Similar conditions are also expected in the Karnali and Far Western provinces.

The department has warned that the expected rainfall may lead to flash floods, landslides, and soil erosion, posing a risk to daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, and road and air transportation. Therefore, people in the affected areas are advised to take special precautions.

Today, the weather will be generally cloudy to fully cloudy throughout the country. There is a high chance of moderate rainfall with thunderstorms in most hilly and Tarai regions, while some areas in the Himalayan region may experience snowfall along with rainfall.

Tonight, most parts of the country will experience cloudy weather, with a high chance of rainfall and thunderstorms in the hilly and Tarai regions. Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is possible in one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Far Western provinces.
