A man who had been on the run for 18 years has been arrested by the police in Siraha, Nepal. Ramnath Rayal, 60, was taken into custody on Friday for his alleged involvement in the murder of a woman in 2065 BS (2008 AD).
According to the police, Rayal had been accused of attacking Chandrika Devi Rayal, 25, with a sharp weapon over a dowry dispute. The incident had occurred on Bhadra 3, 2065 BS (August 19, 2008) at around 9 am.
Chandrika had succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Purnia, Bihar, India. Rayal had been absconding since then, and the police had been searching for him.
The arrest was made by the Siraha District Police Office, and Rayal is currently being held for further investigation.
