FNJ Global Media Conference 2026 to be held in Japan, Nepali journalists from around the world to participate

The Nepal Journalists Association Japan Chapter is organizing the ‘FNJ Global Media Conference 2026’ in Tokyo, Japan on July 25. The conference, themed ‘Connecting Nepal and the world through diaspora media’, is co-organized by 12 foreign chapters of the Nepal Journalists Association.

The conference will feature the participation of Nepal Journalists Association Central President Nirmala Sharma, 33 central committee members and representatives, presidents and representatives of foreign chapters, Japanese journalists, and prominent Nepali journalists from around the world.

According to Ravindra Shrestha, President of the Nepal Journalists Association Japan Chapter, the conference aims to highlight the growing responsibility of diaspora journalism in connecting the Nepali community abroad with their homeland.

The conference will feature presentations, panel discussions, and interactions on topics such as the current state of diaspora journalism, its challenges and opportunities, the relationship between the central committee and foreign chapters, the impact of technology on responsible journalism, and press freedom.

Tilak Mall, founding president of the Nepal Journalists Association Japan Chapter, expects the conference to play a crucial role in formalizing the relationship between the central committee and foreign chapters. He also believes that the conference will convey the message that diaspora journalists are committed to responsible journalism despite the challenges they face.

Suraj Bhandari, President of the Nepal America Journalists Association (NAJA), emphasized the importance of the conference, stating that technology has made it possible for journalists to have a global impact regardless of their location. He also noted that diaspora journalism has become essential for the Nepali community and Nepal as a whole.

The Nepal Journalists Association Japan Chapter considers the conference a significant achievement in the history of diaspora journalism, aiming to strengthen the relationship among Nepali journalists, promote institutional development, and enhance professional capacity.
