A total of 72 people have lost their lives in road accidents in Dang district over the past year. According to the Traffic Police Office, Dang, 347 road accidents occurred in the district during the period, resulting in the deaths of 50 men, 19 women, and three children.

Police Inspector Keshav Khadka, chief of the Traffic Police Office, Dang, said that 163 men, 47 women, 16 boys, and six girls were seriously injured in the accidents. Khadka attributed the main causes of the accidents to speeding, drunk driving, driver negligence, road conditions, and mechanical failures.

The police have been conducting awareness programs to reduce road accidents and ensure road safety. Recently, the traffic police have been conducting free health check-ups for drivers and pedestrians who jaywalk.

In two separate incidents, 49-year-old Pushpa Kandel of Tulsipur-9 died after being hit by a tipper truck while riding a scooter in Chamikhola, Tulsipur-9, on 5 Chaitra. Similarly, 42-year-old Bhanu Rijal of Bankigau-5 died on the spot in an accident on 3 Chaitra. Investigations by the District Police Office revealed that both accidents were caused by speeding.
