Al Roker has spoken out after a terrifying incident at the ‘TODAY’ show, where an intruder slipped past security and targeted one of his co-hosts.
Roker shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, accompanied by a montage of photos with co-host Craig Melvin, set to Avicii’s song ‘Hey Brother’. In the post, Roker expressed his gratitude to those who had reached out to check in on him and Melvin, saying they were both okay.
Roker’s message highlighted the sense of solidarity among the ‘TODAY’ show team, saying that moments like these serve to pull people together. He quoted Melvin as saying, ‘You come after one of us, you come after all of us.’
The incident occurred on Thursday morning at 30 Rock, where the intruder, Andrew Truelove, managed to evade security. Once inside, he allegedly asked for Roker but instead targeted Melvin, lunging at him and using a racial slur. Truelove has been sent to Rikers Island and is facing hate crime charges.
