The Administrative Court has seen a significant increase in service facility-related cases in the fiscal year 2082/83. According to the court’s registrar, Sarojraj Regmi, a total of 515 cases were registered in the court, with 202 of them being service facility-related.
The court also saw an increase in cases related to promotions, with 187 cases, followed by 101 cases related to transfers, and 16 cases related to departmental action. Additionally, there were 7 cases related to leave and 2 cases related to contempt of court.
Out of the total cases, 213 were decided, while 302 are still pending. The court’s president, Dr. Tekbahadur Ghimire, attributed the increase in cases to the expansion of the court’s jurisdiction.
The cases were categorized by subject, with 221 cases related to federal administration, 108 cases related to provincial administration, 99 cases related to teachers, 40 cases related to institutions, and 26 cases related to health. There were also 3 cases related to contracts.
In terms of provincial distribution, Bagmati Province had the highest number of cases with 342, followed by Madhes Province with 66, Koshi Province with 40, Gandaki Province with 20, Sudurpashchim Province with 19, Karnali Province with 15, and Lumbini Province with 13.
The Administrative Court has the authority to hear appeals against decisions made by government agencies, including those related to service facilities, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary actions.
