Actor Timothy Busfield Denies Past Allegations, Claims ‘Extortion’

Actor Timothy Busfield has spoken out about past allegations of sexual misconduct, claiming he was the victim of ‘extortion’ in a 1993 lawsuit.

Busfield, who was recently charged with inappropriately touching twin boys on the set of The Cleaning Lady, recalled the earlier allegations in grand jury testimony. He alleged that the parents of his recent accusers discovered the old case and decided to engage in a ‘revenge plot’ when their children weren’t recast in the show.

1993 Allegations ‘Extortion’

The 1993 lawsuit, filed in Minnesota, claimed that Busfield acted inappropriately towards a 17-year-old extra on the set of his movie Little Big League. The lawsuit alleged that Busfield tried to coerce the girl into having intercourse with him and fondled her after she rejected him. Busfield denied the allegations, throwing a defamation lawsuit back at the law firm representing the woman.

Although Busfield ultimately settled the case and accepted a ‘gag order’, he insisted that the allegations were false and that people in the industry took his side at the time. He pointed to his continued career success as evidence, stating that ‘it did not interrupt my career, and it did not stop people from putting me in a position of power’.

Prosecutor Calls Out Contradiction

The prosecutor in the recent case hit back at Busfield, pointing out the contradiction between his claims that the 1993 allegations did not affect his career and his assertion that the recent allegations have ruined his career and life. Busfield argued that the two allegations were drastically different, citing the ages of the minors involved.

In the 2026 case, Busfield was accused of inappropriately touching twin boys under the age of 10. He pleaded not guilty to four counts of criminal sexual contact with a child under the age of 13. Busfield claimed that the recent allegations were a ‘revenge plot’ by the children’s parents, who were motivated by money.
