Students at Tribhuvan University’s Central Campus will now have access to free psychological counselling services, thanks to an agreement between the university’s Independent Students’ Union (ISU) and the university’s Psychology Department.
The agreement, signed on Shrawan 1, aims to provide students with quality psychological counselling services to address the growing mental health concerns among students, including stress, anxiety, and depression.
According to ISU Chairman Dipak Raj Joshi, the agreement will enable the establishment of a counselling unit at the ISU office, where students can receive counselling services.
The agreement also states that the ISU will provide a room at its office for the counselling unit and will coordinate with the Psychology Department to implement the counselling programme in all departments.
The ISU is expected to play a coordinating role in implementing the counselling programme, promoting students’ mental health, identifying problems, and providing timely counselling and necessary support to contribute to the students’ academic, personal, and social development.
The agreement also mentions that the ISU will continue to provide support to the counselling programme even after it moves to its new building, which is currently under construction.
The agreement was signed by ISU Chairman Dipak Raj Joshi and Psychology Department Head Associate Professor Sanjesh Shrestha.
