Three members of the same family arrested on charges of cheating

Three members of the same family have been arrested on charges of cheating in Janakpur, Dhanusha. The arrested are 53-year-old Gopal Sah, his wife Reka Sah, 48, and their son Hareram Sah, 32.

According to the District Police Office, Dhanusha, Gopal was arrested from a hotel in Janakpur, Reka from Sima Naka in Nagarain Municipality, and Hareram from Kathmandu.

Govinda Kumar Sah of Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City-2 had given his land to Gopal Sah as collateral and taken a loan of Rs 9.9 million. However, without the knowledge of the landowner, Gopal Sah and his family members had taken a loan of Rs 4 crore from the bank by mortgaging the same land.

Police have recovered 50 land ownership certificates, 18 citizenship certificates, a laptop, and various stamps and maps from Gopal Sah’s house in Janakpur.

Investigation is ongoing against the three arrested, police said.
