Tax Official Arrested for Bribery in Janakpur

A tax official in Janakpur has been arrested for allegedly accepting bribes from a service seeker.

According to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), a team from Bardibas arrested Yubaraj Pal, a tax official at the Inland Revenue Office in Lahan, while he was accepting a bribe from a service seeker.

The CIAA’s information officer, Prakash Pokharel, confirmed the arrest, stating that Pal was accused of taking a bribe in exchange for facilitating a tax audit for a company based in Lahan.

Pokharel added that an investigation is underway to determine the exact amount of the bribe. The arrest is part of the CIAA’s efforts to curb corruption and ensure transparency in government services.
