Rasuwa’s High-Altitude Potatoes Reach Market

Potatoes grown in the high-altitude and hilly regions of Rasuwa have started reaching the market. Since the end of Ashar, farmers have been harvesting potatoes, and traders have been visiting their homes to purchase the produce.

According to Yopasang Thokra Tamang, a potato farmer, farmers are selling their potatoes at a rate of Rs 120 per pathi. This year’s market price has been good, and farmers are enthusiastic about it.

Another farmer, Ramkaji Thokra, said that the potatoes planted in Falgun have yielded a good production this year due to favorable winter rainfall. With increased production, farmers are expecting a good income.

Janardan Nyaupane, a consumer from Nuwakot, said that the potatoes produced using organic manure are delicious and of good quality, which is why he consumes potatoes from Rasuwa throughout the year.

Rasuwa’s high-altitude regions, including Yarsa, Bahrlek’s upper area, Ramche, Dhunche, Haku, Nesing, Grae, Bahrkhu, Syafru, Burethim, Timure’s Khaidi, Thuman, Chilim’s Techande, Goljung, and Gatlang, have been commercially producing potatoes for a long time.

Compared to last year, potato production has increased, and it is now being consumed outside the district as well. Rasuwa’s potatoes are being consumed in areas like Nuwakot, Dhading, and Kathmandu.
