Nepali Congress Rules Out Unconstitutional Power Sharing in Provinces

Nepali Congress has made it clear that it will not engage in power sharing in provinces that goes against the spirit of the constitution.

Speaking at a press conference organized by the party at its Sanepa office on Monday, Nepali Congress Vice President and head of the party’s policy, research and training department, Vishwa Prakash Sharma, stated that the constitution does not envision a province without an opposition.

He also made it clear that the party will not engage in power sharing that goes against the spirit of the constitution. Sharma said that the party has not envisioned a province without an opposition and is moving forward with the idea that it will have to go to the opposition if necessary.

He also expressed his willingness to sit in the opposition if necessary. Sharma stated that the party will not deviate from the spirit of the constitution, even in the current unfavorable situation and ongoing discussions on constitutional amendments.

Similarly, Vice President Sharma said that discussions and dialogues are ongoing to create a conducive environment for the participation of all party members in the party’s 15th general convention.

"I am confident that the party’s internal issues will be resolved in a positive way," he said.

Vice President Sharma also informed that the party will organize various programs across the country on 6 and 7 Shrawan to mark the 44th memorial day of Jananayak BP Koirala.

He said that the department will organize a program related to climate change on 6 Shrawan and a program to announce the party’s new campaign on 7 Shrawan.
