Nearly 2,000 employees to retire this year, only 20 from top ranks

Nearly 2,000 employees are set to retire this year, with only 20 of them being from the top ranks, according to the National Book Office (Nijamati).

The office has made public the details of employees who will be retiring in the new fiscal year 2083/84. Out of a total of 92,520 employees, 1,985 will be retiring due to age limit (58 years) and completion of service period.

Among the employees retiring this year, the number of top-ranking officials is notable. According to the Book Office’s data analysis, 20 high-ranking officials from the ‘special category’ (secretaries or equivalent) will be retiring this year.

In addition, 87 joint secretaries or equivalent, 206 under-secretaries or equivalent, and 320 section officers or equivalent will also be retiring. From the lower ranks, 773 assistant-level employees and 579 non-gazetted employees will be retiring this year.

The National Book Office has made the details public in accordance with the Office Operations Directive, 2072, which requires the office to publish the estimated details of employees retiring in advance.

However, the details do not include information on the retirement of judges. According to the Director-General of the Book Office, Shravan Kumar Pokharel, the details of judges’ retirement are not included in the publication.
