Displaced Sukumbasi Community Struggles to Find Relief

A group of Sukumbasi people, displaced from their homes in Thapathali, Kathmandu, due to the recent floods and dozer operations, have been struggling to find relief.

After being temporarily relocated to a holding center in Kirtipur, the community was left to face further uncertainty. When the holding center announced its closure on Ashar 19, the displaced residents were filled with fear and anxiety about their future.

The dozer operations along the Bagmati riverbank had left many Sukumbasi families without a place to call home, forcing them to seek shelter in the holding center. However, the center’s closure has raised concerns about the community’s access to basic necessities like food, water, and healthcare.
