Churiyamai Tunnel Management to be Made More Effective

The Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City has handed over the responsibility of managing the Churiyamai Tunnel, a historic tunnel in South Asia, to the Churiyamai Temple and Tunnel Conservation and Management Committee.

The committee will be responsible for the conservation, operation, and management of the tunnel, as well as its regular maintenance, cleaning, and repair, according to a statement by the sub-metropolitan city.

The committee will also be responsible for collecting fees from tourists who visit the tunnel, which will be used for its conservation and management.

The Churiyamai Tunnel was built in 1872 during the reign of Prime Minister Chandra Shumsher Rana and was completed in 1874. It was constructed as part of the Hetauda-Amlekhganj railway line.

The tunnel has been out of use for a long time, but the Bagmati Province government has recently restored it and handed it over to the Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City.

The city hopes that the tunnel will become a major tourist attraction in the area, and its management will be made more effective with the help of the local community.
