Bagmati Province Government Reduces Ministries, Assigns New Responsibilities

A new development has taken place in the Bagmati Province government, as the Chief Minister has assigned new responsibilities to the ministers. This move comes after the reduction of the number of ministries from 14 to 8.

Chief Minister Inder Bahadur Baniya has assigned new roles to the ministers, with some ministries now having three ministers. The ministries of Industry, Tourism, Labor, and Health have been merged, with three ministers assigned to each.

The Chief Minister’s secretariat has stated that the decision to reduce the number of ministries was made to make the government more efficient, effective, and cost-effective. The ministers who were previously without portfolios have been assigned new responsibilities, with some ministers now handling multiple subjects.

Minister Jayaram Thapa has been assigned the responsibility of labor and employment, while Minister Suresh Shrestha has been given the responsibility of culture and tourism. Minister Kiran Thapa Magar has been assigned the responsibility of health, and Minister Urmila Nepal has been given the responsibility of youth and sports.

Minister Bharat Bahadur K.C. has been assigned the responsibility of forest and environment, while Minister Vinu Rayamajhi Poudel has been given the responsibility of cooperatives. The Chief Minister’s secretariat has stated that the new assignments are aimed at ensuring continuity in the work of the ministries.

The reorganization of the ministries is expected to be completed after the Organization and Management Survey (OMS) is completed. The Chief Minister’s secretariat has stated that the number of ministries will remain at 8.
