Common Search Mistakes to Avoid
Most failed searches aren't because your license is missing. They happen because of small input errors.
- Double-check zeros vs letter O — license numbers use digits only
- Don't mix up application number, receipt number, and license number — they are different
- Use the exact name from your official application, not your social media spelling
- Nepali script won't work — only English names are in the records
- If searching by name and getting many results, compare the license number to narrow it down

Your record showed up — great. Don't rush to the office yet. Take these steps first:
- Carry your original temporary license slip or payment receipt
- Bring a government-issued ID that matches your name in the record
- Check office hours and public holidays — some offices have specific distribution days
- If sending someone else, confirm if the office requires a written authorization
- Still verify once on the official DoTM portal before traveling

The Smart License Journey in Nepal
Here's how the typical timeline works so you know where your application stands:
- Submit online form and attend biometric enrollment at your transport office
- Pass written exam and practical trial for your vehicle category
- Pay the required revenue — you get a temporary slip valid for driving
- Your record enters the printing queue at DoTM's central facility
- Printed smart cards are batched and sent to your issuing office for distribution
- Office publishes a notice or updates the printed list — this is what this tool searches
Most delays happen between step 4 and 5. Your temporary slip is valid, but the plastic card takes time. This tool helps you figure out when step 6 has happened for your license.
When Should You Search Again?
If your license isn't found today, checking every hour won't change the result. DoTM publishes updated lists every 2–4 weeks. Come back when a new notice appears on the DoTM notices page.
For older applications (6+ months) that never appear in any status check, contact your transport office directly. There may be a spelling mismatch, category issue, or administrative hold that an online lookup can't resolve.
