Woman’s Body Found Near Kaligandaki River

A woman’s body was found near the Kaligandaki River in Gulmi district on Saturday.

According to the District Police Office in Gulmi, the body was discovered by locals in the Panauta area of Kaligandaki Gaunpalika-4.

Police were informed after locals spotted the body, which appeared to have been washed up by the river. A police team was dispatched to the scene, where they confirmed the body was that of Shakuntala Sharma, a 45-year-old resident of Baglung district’s Jaimini Municipality-7.

Sharma’s neighbors, including Prakash Chalise, identified the body. Police said Sharma had been missing from her home since around 4 am on Saturday.

Initial reports suggest Sharma had been undergoing treatment for a mental health condition and had been taking medication for some time.

Police have informed Sharma’s relatives about the incident and are preparing to send the body for a post-mortem examination. Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
