A woman has been killed in Rautahat after being attacked with a khukuri, a traditional Nepali knife.
The victim, 45-year-old Renudevi Jaysawal, was the wife of Chandeshwar Sah Kalwar, a resident of Hariharapur in Gaur Municipality-5.
According to DSP Basant Gautam, a police spokesperson for Rautahat, the accused, 35-year-old Upendra Sah Kalwar, attacked Renudevi in the neck with a khukuri.
Upendra, who is a resident of Itahari Belahi in Bara’s Karaiya Mai Municipality-8, had been living in the victim’s house.
Following the incident, locals became enraged and beat Upendra severely, leaving him seriously injured.
He was initially taken to Chandrapur Hospital in Chandranigahapur for treatment and later transferred to Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital in Birgunj for further treatment, DSP Gautam said.
Police suspect that the killing was a result of a dispute.
