Water Flow Decreases in Bagmati River

The water flow in the Bagmati River has started to decrease, according to the Hydrology and Meteorology Department. The river’s water level at the Gaurighat water measurement center in Kathmandu has dropped below the alert level.

As of Sunday afternoon, the water level at Gaurighat was 2.41 meters, which is below the alert level of 2.1 meters. The department has advised people living in the surrounding areas to remain cautious until Monday morning, but the risk of flooding has decreased for now.

According to the department’s flood expert, Saraswati Vishwakarma, the river’s water level is decreasing, and there is no need to worry. "The water level in the river has decreased to 2.2 meters, and there is no risk of flooding," she said.

The department has warned that if the water level reaches 2.7 meters, it will exceed the danger level. The department has advised people living in the riverbank, low-lying areas, and nearby settlements to avoid unnecessary travel and to move to safe locations if necessary.
