Travel Advisory Issued in Makwanpur Due to Heavy Rainfall

Makwanpur District Administration has issued a travel advisory due to the risk of natural disasters caused by heavy rainfall in the region.

Assistant Chief District Officer Mohanraj Joshi stated in the notice that the entire country is experiencing active monsoon rainfall, and according to the forecast by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, there is a high risk of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Bagmati Province, including Makwanpur district and surrounding areas, which may lead to flooding, landslides, road blockages, and river overflow.

To minimize human and physical losses, the administration has issued a travel advisory for all travelers, drivers, and traffic entrepreneurs using the Makwanpur-Kathmandu, Makwanpur-Chitwan, Makwanpur-Lalitpur, and Makwanpur-Sindhuli roads.

Road Restrictions

Due to the risk of disasters, all vehicles traveling from Hetauda to Kathmandu via Deurali will be stopped at the checkpoint from Saturday evening to Sunday morning at 5:00 am. Similarly, vehicles traveling to Lalitpur via Kanti Highway will be stopped at Chaukiga from Saturday evening at 6:00 pm.

The administration has urged everyone to exercise special caution during nighttime and continuous rainfall, avoid unnecessary travel, and be cautious in areas prone to landslides, flooding, and river overflow.

Safety Precautions

People are advised not to swim, bathe, or unnecessarily visit riverbanks, and parents are urged not to let their children visit such areas. In case of road blockages or hazardous conditions, people are advised to follow the instructions of security personnel and concerned agencies and move to a safe location.

Before embarking on long-distance travel, people are advised to check the condition of the road and travel accordingly. In case of an emergency, people can contact Nepal Police at 100, Armed Police Force at 1114, Traffic Police at 103, District Emergency Operation Center (DEOC) at 1234, and Ambulance at 102.

The administration has also urged people not to believe in rumors or unverified information and to follow only the official information released by the District Administration Office, Makwanpur, or concerned security agencies.
