TikTok has announced a new initiative to help users better understand and identify content created using artificial intelligence (AI) on its platform.
The move comes as the company continues to evolve its approach to AI-generated content, with a focus on providing users with a safe digital experience.
Within the next few weeks, TikTok plans to launch an AI Literacy Hub within its app in Nepal, providing users with educational content related to AI when they search for relevant topics.
The hub aims to offer practical information on how to identify AI-generated content and use AI-based features with confidence.
Investing in AI Literacy
According to Tom Vergis, AI Chief at TikTok’s Global Public Policy Team, ‘We want users to have the necessary context, confidence, and control when using AI on TikTok.’
‘We’re committed to investing in technology, partnerships, and educational content to help users identify AI-generated content, understand how it’s created, and use AI tools in a creative and responsible way,’ Vergis added.
TikTok has also been expanding its partnerships with trusted organizations to promote AI literacy.
Since its launch in November 2025, the initiative has seen educational content created through this program garner over 200 million views.
The company has invested over $4 million in the program so far and has committed to expanding its reach to more communities worldwide.
Addressing Misuse of AI
While generative AI has opened up new possibilities for storytelling and creative expression, there is a risk of misuse, such as producing large amounts of spam content.
TikTok has been working to prohibit spam content, and in the first quarter of 2026, the company removed over 86 million fake accounts.
The platform is also testing more advanced systems to identify accounts that regularly post spam content, particularly in areas related to public trust and welfare, such as politics, finance, and health.
