The United States has halted its planned military action against Iran, according to local media reports.

However, different media outlets have provided varying accounts of the reasons behind the decision to call off the attack.

CNN, citing a source from the Pentagon, reported that the US military action had been halted, but the source did not specify for how long.

CBS News, citing two regional sources, reported that the US had put the attack on hold to avoid disrupting a potential meeting between an Omani delegation and Iranian officials to discuss the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Warnings Over Missile Supplies

Meanwhile, The New York Times reported that US President Donald Trump had put his plans for a broader military action on hold after being warned by his senior advisors that the US was running low on interceptor missiles used in its air defense systems.

General Dan McKenzie, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, had reportedly warned that the US Central Command, which oversees US military operations in the region, was running low on interceptor missiles.

The US has already used over 1,200 Patriot interceptors in its military action against Iran, with each missile costing over $4 million.
