Three young girls from Rolpa, who recently went viral on social media, will receive free education up to higher studies.
Manjita Poon, Sian Gharti, and Manjita Gharti, who were seen walking to school wearing raincoats during a downpour, have been offered free education by a local boarding school and the rural municipality.
The girls, aged 3, 5, and 6, are currently studying at the Advance Child Care Center in Surpal Bazaar. The school has agreed to provide them with free education up to class 6.
Commitment from the Rural Municipality
The rural municipality of Runtigadhi has committed to providing the girls with free education from class 7 to higher studies (bachelor’s degree).
‘We have committed to providing these three children with free education up to class 6,’ said Tej Bahadur Poon, principal of the Advance Child Care Center.
‘The rural municipality will take responsibility for their education from class 7 to higher studies,’ said Janak Poon, chairman of the Runtigadhi Rural Municipality.
The commitment was made after a team led by social worker and journalist Bhuvan Thapa visited the girls’ homes and met with their parents.
The girls’ fathers are currently working abroad, and the team met with their mothers to discuss the education arrangement.
‘We visited the homes of the three girls and met with their mothers to discuss the arrangement,’ said Bhuvan Thapa.
A video of the girls walking to school in their raincoats has gone viral on social media, with many praising their determination and resilience.
