Kathmandu. A team from the Narcotics Control Bureau of the Nepal Police arrested three individuals, including a foreign national, for smuggling controlled substances in Teku, Kathmandu.

According to SSP Subas Bohora of the Narcotics Control Bureau, the arrested individuals were found to be in possession of 24,700 capsules of Tapentadol, a controlled substance.

Among those arrested, 25-year-old Raj Soni, a resident of Rupdiya in Uttar Pradesh, India, was injured in the leg after being shot by police. Soni had entered Nepal from India on the same day with the controlled substances.

Two other Nepali nationals, 19-year-old Nikhil Soni from Nepalgunj and 19-year-old Sofia Magar from Surkhet, were also arrested in connection with the incident.

According to the police, Raj Soni is a major smuggler of controlled substances in the Kathmandu Valley.

The incident occurred when the smugglers attacked the police team and attempted to flee, prompting the police to open fire.

Raj Soni was shot in the leg and is currently undergoing treatment at the National Trauma Center.

The police are investigating the incident and the arrested individuals.
