Students and parents have shut down the office of the Paribartan Rural Municipality in Rolpa, protesting the transfer of a teacher.

The protest was sparked after the rural municipality transferred Krishna Ram Dangi, the principal of Triveni Basic School in Putalachaur, to Nepal Rastriya Madhyamik Vidyalaya.

Protesters Demand Reinstatement of Teacher

Dangi had been working at Triveni Basic School since 2076 BS. The school was granted permission to operate up to class 10 from Baisakh 9, 2083 BS.

Protesters, carrying placards that read ‘Fulfill the demands of students and parents’, ‘Ensure education for students’, and ‘Reinstate the teacher’, gathered at the rural municipality office, demanding the reinstatement of Dangi.

The rural municipality office has been closed since Friday, with protesters refusing to back down until their demands are met.

Paribartan Rural Municipality Chairman Suk Bahadur Budha Magar is currently undergoing treatment in Kathmandu and is unable to address the situation.

Chief Administrative Officer Nimbahadur K.C. and Administration Branch Chief Lalti Kumar Budha are also on leave, leaving the rural municipality without a clear leader to resolve the crisis.
