Social security beneficiaries, including those receiving old-age allowance, must renew their ID cards by Ashoj, according to the Ministry of Women, Children, and Social Welfare.

The ministry has stated that all beneficiaries of social security allowances must renew their social security ID cards by the end of Ashoj, as per Rule 9 of the Social Security (Third Amendment) Regulations, 2082.

To renew their ID cards, beneficiaries can personally visit their respective ward offices and renew their cards based on biometric identification. Those with temporary residences can also renew their ID cards from the ward office of their current residence.

When renewing ID cards, beneficiaries will be required to provide their national identification number for biometric verification. However, according to Section 5 of the Social Security Allowance Distribution Procedure, 2082, children under 16 years old, people with disabilities who cannot take care of themselves, and citizens above 90 years old are not required to have a national identification number to be listed as beneficiaries.

The ministry has also instructed ward offices to manage the renewal process efficiently to minimize crowding, as the deadline for renewal is by the end of Ashoj.
