Six statues were unveiled in Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City today. The historic statues, which were damaged during the Jana Andolan movement, were rebuilt and reinstalled at different locations in the city.
The statues include those of former Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, Ganeshman Singh, BP Koirala, Pushpa Lal Shrestha, former King Birendra Shah, and martyr Setu Vikka.
At the unveiling ceremony, Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City Chief Prashant Bista said that the statues were rebuilt to honor history and the contributions of historical figures, with the aim of raising awareness among the new generation about the importance of history.
“These are our heritages that will keep history alive,” he said.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by leaders and workers of various political parties in the district.
According to Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City, around Rs 2.5 million was spent on building the five statues, excluding that of former Prime Minister Sushil Koirala.
