Rautahat. The villages along the banks of the Bagmati and Bakaiya rivers in Rautahat are at risk of flooding due to the weak embankments. The embankments of both rivers have been damaged, and the villages are facing the threat of flooding every year.

The Bakaiya River embankment burst recently, causing flooding in Rajpur Municipality-4, affecting the daily lives of the people. According to local resident Prakash Shrestha, the embankment of the Bakaiya River is weak, and the villages of Rautahat, including Katahariya, Devahi Gonahi, Maulapur, Ishanath, Rajpur, and Gaur, are at risk of flooding.

The Bagmati River embankment is also weak, affecting the villages of Rautahat, including Durgabhagawati, Gadhimalai, Madhavnarayan, Rajdevi, and Gaur. The chairman of Durgabhagawati Rural Municipality, Shambhu Singh, said that the flooding in the Bagmati River last year caused damage to crops worth millions of rupees.

The District Administration Office, Rautahat, has inspected the embankments of both rivers and directed the concerned authorities to carry out necessary repairs and maintenance work. The office has also asked the local residents to be vigilant and report any signs of flooding to the authorities immediately.
