Ramkot Homestay Attracts Tourists with Unique Culture and Scenic Views

Ramkot, a village in Tanahun, has become a popular destination for tourists, especially after the introduction of homestay facilities in the area.

The village, which is home to the Magar community, offers a unique cultural experience for visitors, with its traditional houses, local cuisine, and scenic views of the surrounding hills.

According to Nirakaji Ale, president of the Ramkot Community Homestay, the number of tourists visiting the village has increased significantly over the past year, with around 15 to 20 visitors per day and more during holidays.

The homestay program, which was initiated in 2075 BS, has not only provided economic benefits to the local community but has also helped to preserve the Magar culture and traditions.

Visitors to Ramkot can experience the local way of life, including traditional Magar dances and music, and can also participate in local activities such as farming and animal husbandry.

The village is known for its unique culture and traditions, including the traditional Magar dress and jewelry, which are on display during the homestay program.

Visitors can also experience the local cuisine, which includes traditional dishes such as kodo ko selroti, tarakari, and achar.

Ramkot is situated at an altitude of around 1,000 meters above sea level, offering scenic views of the surrounding hills and mountains.

Future Plans

According to Ale, the homestay program plans to expand its facilities to accommodate more visitors, with a target of hosting 200 tourists per night by 2083 BS.

The program also plans to promote the local culture and traditions, including the preservation of the traditional Magar dances and music.

The local government has also pledged to support the homestay program, with plans to develop the infrastructure and facilities in the village.
