A 29-year-old woman, Pema Khando Lama, from a remote village in Gorkha, has been rescued by helicopter after her health condition deteriorated following childbirth.

Lama, who gave birth to her child in the 28th week of pregnancy, was facing severe health complications, but due to the remote location, she was unable to access the necessary specialized healthcare services.

Rescue Efforts

The rescue operation was carried out by the President Women Upliftment Programme under the Ministry of Women, Children, and Senior Citizens, in coordination with the ministry.

Lama was airlifted to Kathmandu and has been admitted to the Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital in Thapathali for further treatment.

Free Air Rescue Service

The Ministry of Women, Children, and Senior Citizens has been operating a free air rescue service under the President Women Upliftment Programme to ensure the safe motherhood and rescue of pregnant and postpartum women in remote areas who are at risk.
