Prachanda Stresses Regional Balance and Socialism at International Conference

Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, the chairman of the Nepal Communist Party, emphasized the importance of regional balance and socialism during his keynote speech at the ‘Hands Off Asia’ international conference in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Organized by the International People’s Assembly (IPA), the three-day conference brought together communist and left-wing leaders from across Asia to discuss various issues, including the impact of imperialism and the rise of ultra-right-wing movements.

Prachanda’s Speech

Prachanda highlighted the historical victories of communist movements in Asia and the lessons learned from these struggles. He emphasized that non-alignment and socialist construction remain crucial goals for oppressed nations in today’s rapidly changing global landscape.

Prachanda also presented a political framework for achieving these goals, stressing the need for regional balance and cooperation among socialist countries.

Other Speakers

Other notable speakers at the conference included Sri Lankan Cabinet Minister of Environment Dr. Dammi Patabendi, who discussed the challenges of implementing a people-friendly agenda while facing the strict conditions of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan program.

Vijay Prasad, a renowned Marxist writer and historian, presented a comprehensive analysis of the global situation, highlighting the interconnectedness of various issues, including militarization, debt crises, and the rise of ultra-right-wing movements.

Conference Schedule

The conference will continue for three days, with various sessions and discussions on topics such as imperialism, socialism, and regional cooperation.

Prachanda is also scheduled to meet with communist and left-wing leaders from various countries, including Cuba, Venezuela, and Brazil, on the sidelines of the conference.
