Pashupatinath Temple Prepares for Large Crowds on Shrawan Somwar

The Pashupatinath Temple is gearing up for a massive influx of devotees on Shrawan Somwar, a sacred day in the Nepali calendar. To ensure a smooth, safe, and organized darshan (worship) experience for the hundreds of thousands of pilgrims expected to visit the temple, the Pashupatinath Area Development Trust has made elaborate arrangements.

The trust’s member-secretary, Teerth Shrestha, informed that all preparations are in the final stages. The temple’s four gates will be open from 3 am on Shrawan Somwar, and the gates will remain open until 8 pm after the evening aarti (prayer). A special puja (worship) will be performed from 8:30 am to 12 pm.

To manage the large crowds, the trust has designated six routes for devotees to follow. Route 1 will be for general devotees, while Route 2 will be exclusively for Bolbam pilgrims. Routes 3 and 4 will be for special puja and special darshan, respectively. Route 5 will be for special sulabh darshan (easy worship), and Route 6 will be for senior citizens, people with disabilities, and children.

The trust has also made arrangements for parking, health services, and mobile toilets. Devotees can purchase tickets for special puja and darshan at designated counters. The trust has also arranged for food, tea, and snacks for volunteers, staff, security personnel, and police officers at the Hansamandap.

The Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most sacred Hindu temples in Nepal, and Shrawan Somwar is a significant day in the Nepali calendar. The temple authorities are expecting a large turnout of devotees on this day, and they are working to ensure a safe and smooth experience for all pilgrims.
