A bus accident occurred near Jalbire in Chitwan, injuring over 25 passengers. The incident took place on the Muglin-Narayangadh road section, where two buses collided with a truck.
According to the police, one bus was traveling from Sarlahi to Kathmandu, while the other was heading to Dang from Kathmandu. The Kathmandu-bound bus had the registration number Ba. Pr. 03 001 Kha 1671. The number of the Dang-bound bus has not been disclosed. The driver of the latter bus is reportedly seriously injured.
The road, which was blocked following the accident, has now been cleared. Rescue efforts are underway, with the Armed Police Force Nepal and the Nepal Police working together to assist the injured. The injured have been taken to Bharatpur for treatment.
The Chitwan District Administration Office had closed the road section from 10 pm on Saturday due to high risk of landslides and floods. The road was reopened at 6 am, but the incident occurred soon after, with vehicles failing to follow lane discipline and causing congestion.
The Road Division Office has requested drivers to operate their vehicles at a limited speed and follow lane discipline.
