Nepal’s wushu team is set to leave for China on Sunday to participate in a special training session in preparation for the 20th Asian Games (Asiad) to be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
The team, comprising Hari Gole, Rajiv Tamang, Deepak Hamal, Vijay Sinjali, and Savita Rai, will undergo a one-month training session at Yunnan University in China.
Susmita Tamang, another athlete selected for the Asian Games, is already in China and will join the Nepali team there.
Prakash Maharjan will be the team’s coach, while Nima Gharti Magar and Navin Basnet will also travel to China as part of the team.
The training session is being organized with the support of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, according to Naba Raj Dhungana, general secretary of the Nepal Wushu Association.
The athletes will undergo a one-month training session, and there are plans to extend the training period by another month if necessary.
The association is also working to send other athletes participating in the Asian Games to Yunnan for training.
