Nepal’s Sahid Lakhan Village Sets Example with Timely Project Completion

In a rare example of timely project completion in Nepal, Sahid Lakhan Village Municipality-7 in Gorkha has been setting a precedent by forming consumer committees for all its projects on the first day of the new fiscal year, Ashar 1.

The village has been doing this for the past two years, ensuring that all projects are completed by the end of the Magh month. This year, too, the village aims to complete all its projects before Dashain, according to Village Chairman Sharan Shrestha.

On Ashar 1, the village formed consumer committees for 17 out of 20 projects, including the repair and upgradation of the Bungkot Health Post building at a cost of Rs 1.5 million, the Makai Pur Chiplethi drinking water project at a cost of Rs 2 million, and the Makai Pur Mahadev Temple reconstruction project at a cost of Rs 2 million.

Other projects include the reconstruction of the Thani Than Temple at a cost of Rs 5 million, the construction of the Bayak Bhitri CD road at a cost of Rs 1.5 million, and the construction of the Chiragara Basante village road at a cost of Rs 1.5 million.

The village has been successful in completing its projects on time due to the joint efforts of local consumers, employees, and people’s representatives, according to Chairman Shrestha.
