Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) General Secretary Shankar Pokharel has stated that the future of the country’s new political forces is uncertain, and their downfall is inevitable.

Pokharel made the remarks while addressing a program organized in Kathmandu on Saturday to commemorate the memory of Nar Bahadur Karmacharya.

The general secretary accused the new forces of being opportunistic and anarchic, and claimed that their rise to power is not a long-term phenomenon.

‘The way the current government is standing on the grounds of populism, anarchy, and opportunism, I do not think it will be a challenge for a long time,’ Pokharel said.

‘Any force that rises quickly will also fall quickly. This is a scientific fact. The way they have dramatically established themselves in Nepal’s politics, their downfall will also be dramatic.’

Pokharel expressed concern that the party’s internal situation is not attractive to the younger generation, and that this is a major challenge for the party.

‘The question is, what will happen after their downfall? Will the future be what we want it to be, or will it not? This is the main question, and that’s why I’m saying that we should focus on the younger generation,’ Pokharel said.

‘When we look at the faces in our programs, we see more old faces. We need to pay special attention to the younger generation.’
