Nepal’s Left Alliance Forms New Government in Provinces

A new three-point agreement has been reached between the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN-UML) and the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) (CPN-MC) to form a government in the provinces.

The agreement, signed by CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and CPN-MC Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, states that the CPN-UML will lead the government in the Koshi, Bagmati, and Lumbini provinces, while the CPN-MC will lead in the Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces.

The two parties have also agreed to hold talks with other parties to form a government in the Gandaki and Madhesh provinces, where they do not have a majority.

This development comes after the Nepali Congress, the largest party in the country, decided to end its alliance with the CPN-UML and form a new government with the CPN-MC.

The CPN-MC has welcomed the agreement, saying it will help to resolve the political crisis in the country and bring stability to the provinces.

However, the Nepali Congress has expressed its dissatisfaction with the agreement, saying it goes against the principles of democracy and the constitution.

The party’s vice-president, Vishwaprakash Sharma, said that the agreement is a result of the CPN-UML’s desire for power and its willingness to compromise on its principles.

The CPN-UML and the CPN-MC have been holding talks for several days to reach an agreement on forming a government in the provinces.

The two parties have a long history of cooperation and have worked together in the past to form governments at the federal and provincial levels.

However, their relationship has been strained in recent times due to differences over issues such as the constitution and the country’s development.
