Nepal’s Home Minister to Deploy Special Task Force to Monitor Border Areas

Nepal’s Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has announced plans to deploy a special task force to monitor the country’s border areas, rather than relying on his own visits.

Speaking at a meeting of the National Assembly’s Federalism Empowerment and National Concerns Committee, Gurung said the new approach would be more effective in addressing the concerns of local communities.

‘We are planning to set up a ministerial task force to monitor the border areas, rather than relying on my own visits,’ he said. ‘This will allow us to better understand the needs of the people and respond accordingly.’

Focus on Marginalized Regions

Gurung also emphasized the need to prioritize the needs of marginalized regions, particularly in the Madhes, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.

‘These regions have been neglected for far too long, and it is our responsibility to ensure that they receive the attention and resources they need,’ he said.

Gurung acknowledged that the government had previously failed to address the concerns of these regions, but pledged to make amends.

‘We recognize that the people of these regions have been subjected to politics of tears and have not experienced the benefits of development,’ he said. ‘We are committed to changing this and ensuring that they receive the support they need.’
