Kathmandu. The capital gains tax on share trading in Nepal has been increased, effective from today.
As per the provisions of the Economic Act for the fiscal year 2083/84, the tax on capital gains from share trading has been increased. Now, if an individual buys and sells shares within a year, they will have to pay a 10% tax on the profit. If the shares are sold after a year, the tax rate will be 7.5%.
In the previous fiscal year, the tax rates were 7.5% and 5%, respectively.
