Nepali Congress Vice-President Vishwa Prakash Sharma has stated that his party does not have any negative comments regarding the power-sharing agreement between the CPN-UML and the CPN (Maoist Centre) in the provincial governments.
Sharma told an online news portal that the Nepali Congress is ready to sit in the opposition to correct the wrong trends of the past.
He said that the party has rejected a proposal to make the provincial assemblies opposition-free, which he described as a ‘hundred percent wrong’ move.
‘We did not agree to this proposal even by one percent,’ Sharma said.
The Nepali Congress Vice-President also stated that his party is willing to cooperate with the CPN-UML and the CPN (Maoist Centre) on issues such as constitutional amendments.
‘The Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, and CPN (Maoist Centre) are fellow travelers in the peace process and constitution-making,’ Sharma said.
He added that cooperation between the three parties and other parties is necessary and natural on issues such as constitutional amendments.
Sharma also announced that the Nepali Congress will make its stance clear on these issues in a meeting with provincial assembly chairpersons and chief ministers scheduled for Sunday morning.
The meeting is expected to take place at 9:30 am at the party’s central office.
