Nepali Congress MP Bharat Bahadur Khadka has stated that the parliament is under the government’s shadow. In an interview, he expressed his concerns about the current state of the parliament.

‘The parliament seems to be under the government’s shadow, which should not be the case,’ Khadka said. ‘I believe the government should keep the parliament in confidence. The parliament should monitor the government and raise the voice of the people. If the government goes astray, the parliament should alert it.’

Khadka emphasized that the parliament should not be a rival to the government, but rather a platform to raise the concerns of the people. He also expressed his dissatisfaction with some of the government’s actions, which he believes have raised suspicions.

‘Is underdevelopment a necessity of the country or is it due to our lack of awareness? Some activities are quite disturbing,’ he said. ‘The issue of blocking the road in front of our party president’s house and the media house is a case in point. When we investigated the vehicles involved, we found that they belonged to our own party members.’

Khadka pointed out that on one hand, the parliament is not questioning the government, and on the other hand, the opposition leaders, employees, and media are being intimidated, which is not good for the country.

He also mentioned that the government did not respond when the issue of removing the squatters from the parliament premises and the management issue was raised. ‘The international community is watching the government’s activities, and the prime minister’s statement on the border issue has been cautioned by opposition MPs. However, the ruling party and the government are not listening to the issues raised in the parliament,’ he said.
