Nepali Congress Local Leaders Pressure Party Not to Split

Local leaders of the Nepali Congress have urged the party not to split, amid growing tensions within the party. The leaders, who were elected to local government positions, met with party officials on Friday and pressed them not to divide the party.

The meeting took place at the party’s office in Chundevi, where leaders from various districts, including the mayors of Tarkeshwor Municipality in Kathmandu, Madhyapur Thimi Municipality in Bhaktapur, and Nilkantha Municipality in Dhading, were in attendance.

The move comes after Gagan Kumar Thapa was elected as the party’s chairman at a special general convention, sparking controversy within the party. The local leaders have called on the party to maintain unity and avoid a split.
