Nepali Congress faction proposes five-point plan for party unity

A faction of the Nepali Congress party, led by former Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka, has made public a five-point proposal aimed at promoting unity within the party.

The proposal was presented at a meeting of former office bearers, members, provincial committee presidents, and district presidents, who claimed that the opposing faction had been spreading misleading information about their stance on party unity.

According to a press statement released by leader Meen Vishwakarma, the faction had already discussed and responded to a proposal sent by Vice President Vishwa Prakash Sharma via WhatsApp on Jestha 18, 2083.

The Five-Point Proposal

The proposal includes the following points:

1. Merging the 14th General Convention’s working committee members with the special general convention’s working committee to complete the central working committee under Gagan Thapa’s leadership.

2. Forming a task force under the presidency of Gagan Kumar Thapa, provided he has a majority.

3. The reconstituted central working committee meeting will announce the agenda for the 15th General Convention.

4. Forming various committees related to the general convention, provided the current establishment faction has a majority.

5. Ensuring the participation of all active members in the 15th General Convention, as proposed by a committee led by current President Gagan Kumar Thapa (then General Secretary), and making digital entries for them.
