Nepal Weather: Rainfall Expected in Most Areas

Rainfall is expected in most areas of Nepal, with a possibility of heavy rainfall in one or two places, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division.

Although the monsoon activity has weakened in the country, there is still a possibility of thunderstorms and lightening in most hilly areas, said meteorologist Binu Maharjan.

For the next three days, there will not be a significant change in the overall weather pattern, with moderate rainfall expected in most areas and heavy rainfall in one or two places, Maharjan said.

Rainfall Expected in Various Regions

Light rainfall is currently occurring in some parts of the Gandaki and Karnali provinces, which is expected to decrease gradually.

In the Kathmandu Valley, the weather is generally cloudy, with some improvement expected today compared to yesterday.

Today, there is a possibility of moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightening in some areas of the Himalayan region and many areas of the hilly region.

Moderate rainfall is also expected in some areas of the Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as in some areas of the Madhes province.

Heavy Rainfall Expected in Limited Areas

However, the possibility of heavy rainfall is limited to only a few areas, including some areas of the Koshi and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as one or two areas of the Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.

Maharjan said that the risk of extremely heavy rainfall has decreased compared to previous days, but it is still necessary to take precautions in hilly areas where localized heavy rainfall can occur.

Although there may be some disruptions to air and road traffic due to short-term rainfall, it is not expected to have a widespread impact throughout the day.
